In short: a trademark registered with the UK Intellectual Property Office (UK IPO) protects your brand name or logo in the United Kingdom. Registration lasts 10 years and can be renewed. You can apply remotely.
Who needs it
- Brands selling on UK marketplaces, including for brand protection on Amazon.
- Companies entering the UK market under their own name.
- Owners who want to protect their brand from copycats.
How we register
- Search. We check the register for similar marks and assess the risks.
- Classes. We pick the classes of goods and services under the Nice Classification.
- Application. We prepare and file the application with the UK IPO.
- Examination. We respond to the examiner's objections, if any.
- Publication. After publication there is a period when third parties can oppose. If no one does, the mark is registered.
What we need from you
- The name or logo.
- The goods or services you want to protect.
- Owner details: an individual or a company.
Price
UK trademark registration — on request. The price depends on the number of classes; UK IPO fees are separate.
FAQ
Does a UK trademark cover the EU?
No. Since Brexit a UK IPO mark covers only the United Kingdom. The EU needs a separate registration.
Can a non-resident own a UK trademark?
Yes. The owner can be an individual or a company from any country. An address for service in the UK, Gibraltar or the Channel Islands is required — we'll help with that.
How long does registration last?
10 years, renewable.
