In short: by law, every US LLC must have a registered agent in its state of formation. A non-resident cannot act as their own agent, so we provide the agent and, if you need it, a US mailing address for your company.
What a registered agent is
A person or company with a physical address in the state who accepts official mail for your LLC during business hours: state notices, tax letters and legal papers (service of process). The agent's address appears in the public state registry.
The agent and the mailing address are different things. The agent's address is for official documents. The mailing (business) address is for banks, Stripe, clients and everyday mail.

FAQ
Can I be my own company's registered agent?
Only if you have a physical address in the state of formation and are available there during business hours. This usually does not work for non-residents.
Can I use the agent's address for my bank or Stripe?
It is better to use a separate business address. We will tell you which address to use where.
What happens if I do not renew the agent?
The state may penalize the company or remove its good standing status. We remind you about renewal in advance.
Can I switch to you from another agent?
Yes, we will file the agent change with the state.
